The Significance of Learning and Understanding the Quran

Allah established the importance of knowledge from the very beginning of man’s creation. When the Angels had questioned a ‘blood-thirsty’ man’s creation, God taught Adam (Alayhi Salam) knowledge, to impress upon them, their ignorance. “And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: Tell me the names of these if you are right.” (Quran 2:31)

In more recent times, almost 1500 years ago, Angel Jibrail (A.S) revealed the very first word of the Quran to Muhammed (PBUH). What could it have possibly been? It had been the command to “Read!” that had echoed in the Cave of Hira. “Read in the name of your Lord Who created.” (Quran 96:1)
