The Zanskar stream at that point takes a north-eastern course until it joins the Indus in Ladakh. High mountain edges lie on the two sides of the Doda and Lingti–kargyag valleys, which run north-west to south-east. Toward the south-west is the Great Himalayan Range which isolates Zanskar from the Kisthwar and Chamba bowls. Toward the north-east lies the Zanskar Range, which isolates Zanskar from Ladakh. The main outlet for the entire Zanskar hydrographic framework is therefore the Zanskar waterway, which cuts the profound and tight Zanskar Gorge through the Zanskar run.
