Zero Premium Plans are Preferred by Many Medicare Beneficiaries

Medicare Advantage is growing year after year. A large percentage of Medicare Beneficiaries are choosing the Zero Premium Plans as their preferred method of obtaining Medicare coverage especially in the Delaware Valley. They’re looking for the Best Zero Plans Philadelphia has to offer.

Zero Plans are a type of Medicare Advantage (Part C) Plan where the Medicare Beneficiary does not pay a monthly Premium. These are not “FREE” healthcare plans. They are just charged for what services they actually use for the plan. For instance, if a Zero Plan policy holder has an outpatient surgery the beneficiary would be charged a co-insurance for the procedure. This co insurance will be known at the time of enrollment. In this example instead of paying a monthly Plan Premium they are charged for what services they are actually using within the plan.

A Zero Plan, is simply a type of Medicare Advantage plan that provides nothing less than Original Medicare. Zero Plans will include, in many instances, supplemental benefits that Original Medicare does not offer. These additional benefits include Dental, Vision, hearing, transportation, OTC spending, and more. A Zero Premium Medicare Advantage plan will be a HMO or PPO network type coverage.  It will also provide the Beneficiary with an annual maximum Out of Pocket. This offers protection where the Original Medicare system does not, unless you add a Medigap policy. Zero Plans are becoming more popular due to the maximum out of pocket protection they offer without a monthly premium being paid for the plan. Many Zero Plans include Part D Prescription Drug Coverage at no additional cost.

Many will often ask how is this Zero Plan possible? How come I don't have to pay? The best explanation is, Medicare is paying the premium to a private healthcare company on your behalf. The competition between the carriers is also helping drive down the cost to Zero Premiums due monthly. The original Medicare system is flooded with Medicare Beneficiaries absorbing benefits and living longer. The original Medicare system is getting help from private healthcare companies in exchange for the Beneficiaries plan Premiums being paid monthly, and fierce competition among carriers is driving them to Zero Plans.
