Subscription to Sovereign Gold Bonds Series VII for 2021 to 2022 Opens today

The next bunch, in the series of Sovereign Gold Bonds 2021-22 will be accessible for subscription from October 25 onwards, for the next five days only, as per the latest information from the Ministry of Finance. The Sovereign Gold Bonds 2021-22 would be dispensed in ten slots. Out of which, six have already been issued from May 2021 to September 2021. The remaining four will be available in four slots or tranches in the entire span of October 2021-March 2022. The Sovereign Gold Bonds 2021-22 which shall be available for subscription starting from October 25 will belong to Series VII. The subscription window shall be open from October 25 to October 29. The bonds for these subscriptions will be issued on November 2.

The Sovereign Gold Bonds will be sold through all major banks except for the small finance banks and payment banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL), authorized post offices, and other recognized stock exchanges like - National Stock Exchange of India and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The Reserve Bank of India will be issuing the bonds on behalf of the Government of India. The price of bonds shall be fixed at a pre-determined price in the Indian currency – Rupees against the simple average closing price of gold which is of 999 purity as per the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd. for the last three working days of the week preceding the subscription period.

The ones who take the subscription through online and digital channels will save Rs 50 per gram more. The bonds will be valid for eight years and one can opt-out of the same after the fifth year keeping following the interest that will be valid on the upcoming payment dates.  

As conveyed by the Ministry of Finance, the minimum investment allowed will be for 1 gm of gold while the maximum would be 4kg for the Hindu Undivided Family or an individual and 20kg for trusts and other such similar established bodies for the fiscal year from April to March. Additionally, the investors will be given 2.50 per cent which shall be payable semi-annually on the stated value.
