Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University is established by the Government of the NCT of Delhi through an Act of the Delhi Legislature. Therefore, formerly Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University was known as Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi and Ambedkar University Delhi. Moreover, with the establishment in 2007, the University began functioning in August 2008. Hence, the short form of the university’s name is AUD. Sangam University is a non-public university, which laid its foundation in 2012.
Later in 2012, the state government approved the university to function as a university.
