Have you ever wondered how certain t-shirt printing methods are performed, or why certain print methods are chosen for specific designs? The following is an overview of the apparel decoration techniques we offer and their uses.

For many reasons, screen printing is the preferred printing method. The cost is affordable, and it will usually last the life of the apparel product. When printing a simple, single-color design on a large number of t-shirts, it's most advantageous. The screen printing process can be used on all types of apparel materials, including cotton and poly blends.

Printing with this method yields a more vibrant color, but the material can feel heavy. White under the base increases the layer of ink but keeps the colors bright. This is a high-end printing process used for complex designs that cannot be reproduced using traditional spot-color ink applications. Halftones and other tonal designs such as photography-like images can usually be produced using simulated process printing.

This is the oldest form of decorating apparel using a similar process as an inkjet printer by blending the four process colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black to create a spectrum of colors. White or light-colored garments are best for four-color process printing. Using halftones instead of multiple colors is an excellent way of simulating shadows and gradients without increasing the cost. A halftone is composed of tiny dots. Their size determines the saturation of the color. Smaller dots are used for lighter areas. When viewed from a short distance, the dots blur together to give the illusion of tones, depth, and shadow.

Discharge water base printing provides a soft feel to the print. Unlike plastisol inks, the discharge process actually removes the dye color from the shirt, revealing either the natural color of the cloth used to make the garment or replacing the color of the garment.
