4L60E transmission

The 4L60E transmission has the same power transmitting core as its predecessors. The only difference is the throttle position sensor, which is tied to the engine's powertrain computer. The higher horsepower of a 4L60E is tied to its size. Likewise, the 4L80E is more expensive than a 4L60E, so it may not be as suitable for a powerful engine. Therefore, it's a good idea to check the torque converter before installing a new transmission.

The 4L65-E transmission was an updated version of the 4L60E. This version featured a 7-plate clutch pack and a more rigid input shaft assembly. The 4L65-E was incorporated into the 2002 model year. It is capable of handling up to 380 ft*lbf of torque. The engine used a 6.0L Vortec V8 and came with the newer-generation transmission.
