Jim McFarland Joliet - He Is Helping People

Jim McFarland Joliet was born in East Peoria. As he grew up he developed his interest in helping others. He has been active as a social worker. He is always on the lookout to help injured animals and provide help during times of disasters. Recently, Jim was elected to serve more than one million community college students statewide on the Illinois Community College Board. In addition, he recently became president of Southwest Community College District's board of trustees.

This year marks only his second term as a board member for SJCCD and his fourth consecutive year serving on SWCC's board. The other two years were served on SJC's now-defunct governing council.

Jim McFarland Joliet - He Helps Animals

Jim McFarland Joliet is also animal loving person. He started the Humane Society of Vermilion County, Inc. (HSVC) to address all animal issues in Vermilion County, namely un-/under- spay/neuter as well as to handle all lost pet complaints about our county.

Jim raised enough funds to purchase an old school bus which was converted into a mobile spay/neuter clinic that can be taken directly to any location within Vermilion County; we call it HSVC on wheels (Humane Society of Vermilion County on Wheels). This has allowed us to serve underprivileged areas that would not have had access previously. The need is great in our area and HSVC on wheels makes sure there is no one left behind!

Our mission at HSVC - Humane Society of Vermilion County is to promote respect for all living creatures through compassion, protection, and humane education. We are an inclusive organization open to members of any race, gender, or age who want to join us in protecting local pets from neglect or abuse. Additionally, we provide services for feral cats including Trap-Neuter-Return services. Your donations go a long way with HSVC!
