How Can You Get Rid of Heel Pain Sitting at Home?

Suppose you experience sharp pain in your heel while walking, exercising, playing sports, or putting even a small amount of pressure on your feet. In that case, you are suffering from a medical condition known as plantar fasciitis.

This is the most common foot complaint that usually affects people who are:

  • Flat-footed
  • Frequent exercisers
  • Constantly on their feet
  • Overweight
  • Wearing poorly fitted shoes

Fortunately, there are many ways to treat this ailment, both from a podiatrist and home. Here is a list of at-home remedies for heel pain.

Give rest to your feet for a few days. If you are doing a lot of running, playing tasks, or any other high-impact activities, take a small break and switch to low-impact activity in its place.

Use an ice pack to control inflammation. Twenty minutes of ice massage at a time, no more than once every hour, is suitable.

Put your feet up when you rest or sit. A little elevation help reduce pain and swelling.

Every day, do some simple exercises that will target your calves and feet. Gently pulling toes toward you, standing calf stretches, and flexing your feet are good ones to try.

Give yourself a foot massage.

Take an over-the-counter pain relief when essential.

Avoid shoes that are hard on the feet, like flip flops, high heels, or unsupportive flats. Instead, stick with good, comfortable, cushioned sneakers or shoes with the right support and low to medium heels. If your shoes are getting old, they don't provide the support and padding that your feet require.
