Different types of hot water tanks

A hot water tank is also referred to as a hot water heater and its work is exactly what it sounds like. It has a large tank that is used to heat the water. It also holds in such heated water. This tank gets the water supplied from the home water system and warms it and then distributes it to all parts of the home.

There are several different types of hot water tanks that use diversified methods and ways to heat the water. Gas heaters are quite famous but now water tanks can be run from electricity, oil and solar power too. These tanks have obtained enormous popularity. Their water holding capacity is mainly considered to be 200 liters.

A hot water tank in Victoria is a very simple device with an easy mechanism. It just has a big cylinder-shaped tank and one heating element. The tank also has a protective layer that prevents heat from escaping out of the tank and preserves hot water. Once the cold water enters these tanks, the heating element begins to warm this water as per the temperature set by an individual.

Types of hot water tanks

●Storage tank water heater

These are very commonly used water heaters all over the world. Based on the number of family members, their water holding capacity is decided. They use natural gas or electricity as their fuel. The only disadvantage in using these tanks is that it keeps water warm full time which requires energy and electricity for that period making it an expensive choice.

●Tankless water heater

These hot water heaters do not have a tank to store or hold the hot water as their name itself suggests. They are quite small in size and heat the water when required and in the quantity an individual demand. They take up less space, are reliable, and efficiently utilize the energy. They have a drawback which is they are much more expensive than a storage-tank water heater. Although they heat water at any time required but sometimes, it might fail to heat the large quantity of water at a peak point of time.

●Heat pump hot water heater

They appear to have a tank-like an appearance but are different from a tank water heater. Such heaters have the capacity to draw electricity from the surroundings and using this it warms the water. Thus, it does not have the means to heat water directly. It is like a refrigerator except that it pumps heat in the vessel rather than pumping it outside of it. They are expensive but save energy and are cost-effective. However, they are not suitable for chilly areas.
