CGM Monitors

What is CGM and how does CGM Monitors work?

CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) systems monitor glucose levels continuously throughout the day. CGM Monitors users utilizing an automated applicator to place a small sensor wire just beneath their skin. The CGM sensor housing is held in place by an adhesive patch so that the sensor may detect glucose levels in interstitial fluid during the day and night.

A compact, reusable transmitters attach to the sensor’s wire and wirelessly transmit real-time measurements to a receiver, allowing the user to view the data. A suitable smart device (cell phone) with the CGM device application can be used as the display device in some systems. Current sugar levels, and also historical trends in levels, are displayed on the receiver or connected smart device.

Unlike a blood glucose meter (BGM), which only delivers a single glucose reading, the CGM device could provide real-time, dynamic glucose data every five minutes for up to 288 readings over the course of a 24-hour period. Users can learn more about their glucose levels, including the rate and direction, as well as other information that might help them manage their diabetes more effectively.

Using a CGM Monitors instead of standard glucose meters has numerous advantages. The four most well-known are:

1. CGM Monitors users to improve their A1C by 1.3 points on average.

2. CGM users spend less time in hypoglycemia (blood sugars less than 50).

3. The CGM device warns the user when highs and lows are approaching.

4. There is no need for patients to poke their fingertips.

For Type I diabetics, most insurance plans cover CGM therapy. Some insurance plans also cover type II diabetes.

We are in the market with the most advanced CGM device the Freestyle Libre 2 with all the upgrades and updates making your life easier with diabetes with one reader and two sensors and each sensor is good for the next 14 days which does mean the sensors are good to go for almost a month after that you have to change and replace them with new pair of sensors and the buying process is at your ease if you still have something on your mind unclear and want to ask other things about the product
