James Wolfgramm, whose primary occupation is as the CEO of a large corporation, devotes much of his time to charitable contributions that benefit children and the environment in his local community and around the world. In addition to being on the board of several charities, James Wolfgramm has been involved in fundraising events such as marathons and 5K races. The list below describes several organizations to which James Wolfgramm has donated money to over the past five years.
Environmental concerns
James Wolfgramm donates a percentage of his time, money, and skills to different environmental charities that benefit local communities. One such charity is Environmentalism for Dummies. James has served on their board for several years now. He credits them with teaching him about ways he can contribute to a cleaner environment locally and worldwide.
How did you decide where to donate?
Many people make decisions about where to donate based on a single factor, such as a cause they’re personally affected by. James Wolfgramm was initially drawn to cancer research organizations because his sister died of breast cancer. After some time, he decided that donating to multiple charities would be more beneficial than focusing solely on one type of organization. By giving money to different types of groups—those that help children in need and those that help protect the environment—he can support causes he cares about while also contributing to an important issue that affects everyone: our planet.
What was your first donation experience like?
This was a very positive experience for me. It made me proud to give to an organization that I thought would make a difference in our community. I had done some volunteer work at my local soup kitchen as well as worked with some food banks, but giving money felt different and more meaningful to me than simply providing time or other resources. Once I started writing checks, it made me want to give more so I became involved in more organizations.
