Importance of a Warranty in Federal Lemon Law

It's no secret that when you make a purchase, you want it to last. But what do you do if the item in your possession is broken, defective, or otherwise unusable? Take the case of a lemon car.

Do you have any provision to take on the dealership selling you a lemon car?

That's where warranties come in. A warranty is an item's promise that the customer will be able to make use of the product for a set amount of time after purchase. This promise creates security in the eyes of the consumer.

This security is important because it prevents you from being trapped by a lemon car. If you mistakenly purchase lemon and are stuck with it for financial reasons, you can use the warranty to resolve your issues at no fault of your own.

The state of Texas does not have much legislation providing for warranties in cases involving lemon cars. But Texas does have federal regulations regarding warranties for vehicles that are made and sold within Texas. The federal lemon law extends this protection. It serves as a legal tool for consumers who have experienced a vehicle's defects or inferior performance. Therefore, the lemon law is very relevant to Texas cases.

The warranty provides two main functions in a lemon car scenario:

- The guarantee that you will be able to use the item for a certain period.

 - The promise that you will be able to receive compensation for any losses caused from the use of the item within that time period.

Some warranties are limited. They may require proof of purchase to claim under the warranty's terms. Others are not limited. They, instead, offer protection for any damages incurred during the product's normal use.

You also have the concept of implied warranty. This is a warranty that is created by the actions or conditions of the seller, manufacturer, or any other entity which affects your use of an item.

The implied warranty of merchantability is created by your purchase. It can be used as a defense against a lemon problem with cars under the federal manufacturer warranty law

This has essentially guaranteed you that the vehicle you are purchasing will be usable for a normal period, given the circumstances. Aside from the warranty and implied warranty, you have the lemon law. It provides an avenue for consumers to file a complaint. Your vehicle may be defective in some way. In such a case, you can use it as an excuse to file a claim under this law. The dealership will have to pay compensation to you if you highlight the problem with cars and win the case in a court of law. These points explain the immense importance of manufacturer warranty law.
