1: The anatomy of an eyes
The anatomy of the eyes is not as tricky as you may think, but it is important to understand different shapes and curves when painting realistic eyes. The iris is the part of the eye that will direct the gaze. Each iris in a pair of eyes has a very specific angle to it. Two meeting ice looking in the same direction, you have to measure the angle from the highest point to the lowest point.
2: Paint around the eye and grey inside
Before you start painting inside of the eye, paint around it. Mix the appropriate skin tone and brush it across your surface. Then, mix a shade and apply it to the crease. Afterwards, add highlights to the lid below and blended with the shadow. Eyeball Sculptures are grey. So, it only makes sense that you paint the eyeballs a light grey.
3: Eyelashes are not uniform and make pupil black
Look closely and you will see they are different lengths, some clumped together in groups, and the lashes also have lighter and darker areas. Use back paint or your darkest pencil color if it is a drawing. It may not be completed round but it will always are black.
4: Add details
Now is the time to start adding details. If you blocked in the base colour properly, you will now only need to worry about the refining details and adding paint where it will make a difference. Adjust shapes and apply textures. Don’t overdo it though, it is easy to forget yourself and render too much. Paint only what you see and not what you think.
