The raw material composition of fiberglass rebar

The production of composite fiberglass rebar adopts the pultrusion process. Mainly vertical enhancement. The fiber content is 50% to 65%. In the past 10 years, FRP steel bars have effectively replaced steel bars in many projects, especially with the advantage of price, its application is increasing day by day.

Glass fiber reinforced rebar is generally made of E glass fiber and vinyl ester resin. There are also examples of using ECR glass fibers. Vinyl ester is a highly durable system recommended for excellent structural integrity and high alkali resistance. In addition to vinyl esters, polyesters, epoxy resins, and phenolic resins can also be used in production.

FRP (composite rebar) belongs to the so-called fiber composite materials. In fiber composites, fibers are combined with other materials to achieve improved performance and synergy. The properties of the resulting material can be tailored by selecting specific fibers, adjusting the direction of the fibers, and changing the levels of additives and binders. One of the most well-known composite materials is glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP). It is used in many fields, such as electronics and shipbuilding, to produce components that are lightweight, strong, and extremely durable.

Fiberglass rebar has many advantages that can completely eliminate corrosion problems. In addition, laboratory studies and field tests have shown that fiberglass rebar can last over a hundred years under service conditions.

Sensitive concrete structures such as seawalls, dams, and power plants must be reinforced with corrosion-resistant steel bars. Therefore, fiberglass rebar is considered an ideal product for sensitive concrete infrastructure.
