Irish Leaving Certificate | Homeschool.ie

The Leaving Certificate Examination is commonly referred to by the Leaving Cert as the final examination in the Irish secondary schools system. It requires at most two years of preparation. Students who choose to take a Transition Year can have it taken three years after their Junior Certificate Examination. These years are collectively known as the "Senior Cycle". Students aged 16 to 20 are most likely to take the examination. Over eighty percent of them will pass it. The State Examinations Commission supervises the Examination.

The current Leaving Cert offers many benefits. It is externally tagged and fair to all. It is not subjective. It is independent and anonymous. It is therefore impervious to manipulation. It takes diligence and hard work from the student to succeed.
