The Many Different Kinds Of Golf Covers

There are many different types of golf head covers. Their main job though is to protect your beloved golf clubs. I have knocked many clubs in the past and this could have been avoided if I would have just paid a little extra and bought a head cover.

Neoprene Iron Covers

For irons a favourite is the neoprene material as it is waterproof, machine washable, shock resistant, tear resistant and chemical resistant. This is mainly down to it being a non-breathable material. Neoprene golf iron covers are very popular with brand manufacturers of golf irons as they can mass produce covers, they fit universally all irons and they can print their logos on one side.

Putter Covers

A new craze is that putter covers have become a fashion accessory, this seems to have been started by the Titleist Scotty Cameron putters as it is now possible to buy literally hundreds of different kinds of covers from patriotic covers to ladies' covers. Putter covers can be made out of neoprene, knitwear or faux leather.

Wood Head Covers

Branded head covers for woods are all the rage at present. The standard wood covers you get when you purchase your clubs are very good quality, but novelty head covers are all the rage like animal covers, Dracula covers and your favourite beer head covers. In the UK there are some great football team head covers available too.

Covers I have seen

The best covers I have seen around at present are for golf irons they come in packs of 10 in many colours. There are Ping iron covers, Callaway iron covers, Taylormade iron covers, Nike iron covers, Titleist iron covers and many other branded ones. They are made by a company called golf covers who make them for big manufacturers under licence.

Which ones are mine?

The best way to identify your clubs in a group is with a unique headcover, On a weekend playing a game of golf is where you are and the chances are waiting on the first tee it will be busy and you are not the only person to own a set of Callaway X-20. By adding a set of iron covers you will make your clubs stand out and be easy to identify as a different set of irons.

A lot of golfers still use wooden-headed woods instead of metal this has a lot to do with feel and accuracy. Both should be given head covers or they will knock together and cause damage to each other. The cost of a cover is much cheaper than having to have your woods fixed and it can also cause mishit shots if too damaged.

Golf headcovers will protect your clubs and irons from the elements. This includes rain, wind and snow and in some rare cases heat (not in England ha). A lot of golfers now use golf head covers as fashion statements with many different colours available and designs. I know some lady golfers who never have the same head cover on their woods for any round they play.

I hope these brief explanations of different types of golf head covers have helped you as you would have now realized covers are good for fashion, protection and functionality. Golf iron covers are an essential piece of kit because there is no point in spending hundreds on your new golf irons if you are not willing to protect them. Happy golfing.
