Hot-rolled and cold-rolled are the two most commonly used methods of steel processing. The differences are not great from the outside, but there are many connotations, such as the quality of the appearance, forming function, etc. Many people want to know which is better, but they do not know them very well, so it is difficult to get an answer.

The so-called hot-rolled refers to the high-temperature decomposition of steel and then rolled, with plasticity, and weldability, but the strength is not high. Cold-rolled is processed by strong drawing, its strength is higher, but the toughness is poor, it can be said that the difference between the two is still quite large, and the detailed differences in appearance quality, and functional differences.

1、Appearance and appearance quality

Because the cold rolled galvanized steel sheet is hot in the cold rolling process, and cold rolling together with some appearance finishing, the cold rolled steel sheet in the appearance of quality (such as the appearance of roughness and so on) than the hot sheet to come good, so if the product after the painting and other coating quality there are higher requirements, generally choose the cold sheet. The hot sheet is also divided into a pickling sheet and a no-pickling sheet. The pickling plate has a normal metallic color in appearance, no-pickling sheet usually has an oxide layer on the exterior, ugly, or the existence of iron tetra oxide black layer.

Superficially, it is similar to fire-baked, and if the storage environment is not good, usually with some rust.

2、Function

In general, the hot rolled galvanized steel sheet and cold rolled steel sheet in the engineering of its mechanical function is thought to be no different, although the cold sheet in the cold rolling process there is a certain process hardening, (but does not exclude the strict requirements of the mechanical function of the case, that need to be treated differently), the cold sheet is usually slightly higher than the yield strength of the hot sheet, the appearance of hardness is also higher, how detailed need to look at the degree of cold sheet annealing. But no matter how annealed cold sheet strength is higher than the hot sheet.

3、Forming function

Because the basic function of the hot and cold rolled galvanized steel sheet is not too much, the forming function of the factors affecting the quality of its appearance depends on the difference, because the quality of the appearance of the cold sheet is good, generally speaking, the same material of the steel sheet, cold sheet than the hot sheet of the forming effect comes to some good.

4、Hot rolled and cold rolled steel sheet which is better

Both have their strengths and weaknesses, so it is difficult to say which is better, different scenarios should choose the right one because hot-rolled steel sheet is rolled by high-temperature heating steel, its strength is not very high, but enough to meet our users, its plasticity, weldability is better, so we are more commonly used; cold-rolled steel sheet is ordinary hot-rolled steel through strong drawing over the strain hardening stage of steel, its strength is very high, but toughness, weldability is poor. But toughness and weldability are poor, relatively hard, and brittle!

The usage of cold-rolled galvanized sheet: used for cars, refrigerators, washing machines, and other household appliances, as well as industrial equipment, and a variety of construction materials. Uses of hot-rolled galvanized steel sheet: structural steel, weather-resistant steel, structural steel for cars, hot rolled special steel, cold rolled raw plate, steel plate for steel pipes, steel plate for high-pressure vessels, etc.

5、How to distinguish between hot-rolled and cold-rolled galvanized sheet

①The color is different. Cold-rolled sheet appeared oil, silver-white and stainless steel almost; the exterior of the hot-rolled sheet into brown, with color inconsistency, or there are no oil spots.

②Texture, a marginal difference. Cold-rolled sheet texture is more delicate and smooth, the edge is neat; the hot-rolled sheet appearance texture is rougher, and the shape of the rules without cold-rolled, and sometimes the edge is not neat.

③Standard different. Cold-rolled sheet is generally a thin standard thickness of 3.0mm or less (custom outside), silver is galvanized, color is a color-coated plate; the hot-rolled sheet is generally more than 1.5mm (custom outside), the thinnest not less than 1.0, with temperature change oxidation pattern.
