WHAT CAUSES ACNE SCARS?

Scars from acne are extremely typical. According to research, 82% of people between the ages of 12 and 30 will experience acne, and 1 in 5 of those individuals will also experience acne scarring.

How do acne scars develop?

Inflammation of acne lesions leads to acne scars. The acne pore often enlarges and the pore wall begins to break down. Because some acne lesions are tiny, the resulting scars are not deep and heal rapidly. On occasion, the acne's debris may seep into the tissues nearby and leave a deeper scar. In order to heal the scar, the skin now reacts to this by producing new collagen fibres.

Any break in the skin, such as a cut, extremely dry skin, acne, or a boil, can cause the top layer of your skin to abrade, which causes scarring. Scarring may be influenced by your skin type, your genes, or how well you treat the initial wound. After then, it relies on your lifestyle choices, such as how much you expose yourself to irritants like pollution.

There are typically two types of acne scars-

§ When there is tissue loss, the scar forms. It causes the skin's surface to become indented.

§ A scar forms that is somewhat elevated on the skin's surface. This particular sort of acne scar indicates that your skin is functioning too well. To aid in wound healing, your skin produces collagen; but, if this collagen production is excessive, raised scars result.

It's crucial to understand that having acne does not automatically result in scarring. The good news is that not all acne scars are permanent, even though one in five acne sufferers will also have scarring.

While some treatments practically eliminate scars, other techniques encourage the skin to produce its own collagen and mend itself.

How common is acne scarring?

Scars from acne are extremely typical. Between the ages of 12 and 30, 80–85% of people will have acne, and 1 in 5 of those people will have scarring. Acne affects over 90% of youngsters.

The truth is that some people are more likely to develop scars than others, and some people are lucky enough to get through a bad bout of acne without developing any scars. Consult your dermatologist right away to explore acne treatment options if you are very susceptible to scarring.
