The Hindu University of America offers courses in the Hindu Philosophy System that emphasizes critical thinking, morality, and introspection. The Foundations of Hindu Studies area is a collection of core courses, including many required graduate-level courses that are required for most graduate degrees. This area includes courses in various primary texts of Hindu Dharma, such as the Vedas, Vedanta, Yoga, Bhagavad Gita, Dharma Sastras, and systems of Hindu philosophy called Ṣaḍ-darśana. The mechanism by which Hindu dharma adapts to different places and times, psychologies and dispositions and manages plurality is explored, allowing for the dharmic life and unity of thought underlying the apparent diversity of form and expression. In addition, the foundation also includes some comparative study courses that include a preliminary examination of other world religions and philosophies, as well as critical contemporary issues in Hindu studies.
