Put A Stop To Child Labour As It Robs Off Childhoods

Almost 33 million children in India between the ages of 6 and 18 work as child laborers. They can be seen working in a variety of settings, including workplaces, domestic settings, construction sites, and tea stands. Children who work as laborers are exposed to emotionally and physically taxing circumstances that harm a child's mental and physical health in the long run.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) states that "child labor" may be described as work that robs children of their childhood, their potential, and their dignity and that is detrimental to their physical and mental development. It refers to work that is risky and harmful to children on a mental, physical, social, or moral level and/or that interferes with their education by denying them the chance to go to school, forcing them to drop out early, or requiring them to try to balance school attendance with overly demanding work.

Regrettably, the number of child labor cases is only increasing with each passing year. There is still a serious lack of resources or steps toward stopping it. A zero-tolerance policy must be implemented right away because child labor exacerbates a variety of children's problems, such as illiteracy, starvation, child trafficking, etc. Addressing the reality that many families send their children to work because of extreme poverty is also crucial. Children are forced to work as cheap labor to make ends meet since their homes lack basic supplies.

During their formative years, children need to play and interact with other children, besides receiving an education in a safe and caring environment. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the consequences of child labor, raise awareness, and engage in dialogue with parents and community leaders about these issues.

Every child deserves to grow up in a secure and supportive environment.
