Sun Mobility is all set to empower Zomato with 50k EVs for food delivery.

Zomato takes one more step to make their deliveries eco-friendly

On Monday, SUN Mobility announced a partnership with Zomato to fuel 50,000 electric 2-wheelers across the nation over the following 24 months.

The EV business said the collaboration had been verified in Delhi with an initial fleet deployment and will use its battery swap solutions for the last-mile deliveries.

Anant Badjatya, CEO of SUN Mobility, has said, "by assigning 50,000 electric two-wheelers in Zomato's fleet, we are decreasing our carbon footprint by 5,000 MT/month and assisting in creating a cleaner environment."

The action aligns with SUN Mobility's goal of electrifying last-mile deliveries in India and Zomato's commitment to "The Climate Group's EV100 initiative that implies 100% EV adoption by 2030."

Zomato’s COO, Mohit Sardana, has claimed that this collaboration with Sun Mobility to swap batteries will increase the EV-based shift in deliveries and hence complement the company's “sustainability.”

The last-mile delivery partners will be able to quickly and easily exchange their dead batteries for fully charged ones at SUN Mobility exchange Points thanks to the swappable battery technology.

According to the businesses, this will cut down on downtime for recharging, boost the effectiveness of last-mile delivery operations, and help create a cleaner environment by cutting emissions.

SUN Mobility is a partnership between SUN Group and Maini Group that was established in 2017.

To date, SUN Mobility has installed 358 Swap Points in 18 cities, supplying electricity for more than 80 million kilometres and 4.2 million swaps across the nation.
