Disability Support Services Melbourne

Disability support services Melbourne are helping people with disabilities to overcome barriers to employment and build skills and confidence. These services are government-funded and aim to equip people with the right skills to find jobs and stay in the workforce.

A startup called Clickability is looking to help people make informed choices by enabling them to read, rate and review disability support services. It is already available in Victoria and plans to expand nationally.

Bila Community Group

Among the many disability support services Melbourne has to offer, Bila Community Group is an admirable contender. Its main claim to fame is its impressive array of services and supports spanning the gamut from adolescent mental health to dementia and aged care. It is also a goldmine of free information on topics as varied as mental health to the latest in technology and innovation. Probably the best place to start is their website where you can find all things health and education related. The company is well worth a look for the quality of service you can expect and for the personalised one on one attention to detail that only a top notch organisation like this can deliver.

Achieve Australia

Achieve Australia has been providing services and support with integrity, commitment and passion since 1952 to help people with disability achieve a life that is meaningful and valued. This involves facilitating the learning and maintenance of life and work skills, relationships and community participation.

A person-centred approach to support is the foundation for all the organisation’s services and the ethos behind all its unique social enterprises and employment opportunities. Achieve Australia is also passionate about ensuring its services are inclusive of Aboriginal Australians and people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Bedford is a NDIS registered provider and one of the largest providers of disability support services in Australia, employing 1500 clients across a range of NDIS approved support structures from assisted living to Day Options. As a member of Alliance20, Bedford is proud to be working with other leading disability service providers to ensure the NDIS provides all Australians with disability access to the best possible support for their individual needs and goals.

Endeavour Foundation

Endeavour Foundation provides a range of disability support services to people with an intellectual disability across Queensland and New South Wales. These services include housing, daily living, learning and employment.

They offer supported housing in homes and communities, social groups, one-on-one support and respite. Their goal is to enable people to live independently and participate more in their community.

The organisation also runs ten Tip Shops and Recycle Markets that salvage household items and furniture, books, toys and sporting equipment. All funds raised through these shops are reinvested into providing real possibilities for people with an intellectual disability.

Each year, the organisation runs seven prize home lotteries and five Ultimate Life Changer lotteries. The prizes in these lotteries are valued at over $200,000 each and all proceeds go to Endeavour Foundation.

Sunnyfield

Sunnyfield Disability Services has been enriching the lives of people with disability since 1952, providing a range of support services that build capacity and independence. They also provide NDIS services to help people maximise their funds.

Whether you’re looking to expand your social network or get some kicks after six, try our fun social groups for 18+. They’re a great way to make new friends and meet people from around your area.

They also offer a wide range of community access and weekly programs for all ages, so you can get out and about and see the world!

The Disability Royal Commission held a public hearing in Homebush in May that focused on the experiences of three people living in a group home operated by Sunnyfield. The hearing highlighted issues of critical relevance to disability service providers, particularly relating to the ways in which they prevent and respond to violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
