In order to take part in the holy pilgrimages of Umrah and Hajj, millions of pilgrims annually make the journey to Saudi Arabia. Umrah, which means "visit" in Arabic, comes from the word I'timaar. Walking seven times between Safaa and Marwah and circling the holy Kaaba are the two main components of the Umrah. In Islamic tradition, Umrah can be performed at any time. When making Umrah, there are four stages you must take.
• Ihram: Put on Ihram either before or after Meeqaat.
• Tawaf: Performing a full circuit of the Holy Kaaba, Allah's House, seven times
• Say'ee: As-Safaa and Al-Marwah were crossed on foot seven times.
• Qasar / Halaq: After Say'ee, male pilgrims will have their heads shaved completely, while females will have their hair trimmed to around the length of a fingertip.
Umrah does not involve performing rites like as visiting Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah, or sacrificing animals. Hajj is the only time these rituals can be performed.
Wearing Ihram
Ghusal should be performed before donning the Ihram sheets. Then, with a clear mind, perform Niyyah twice (two Rakat Nafl). This is what the Niyyah means: "O, Allah! Please make it simple for me to perform Umrah and accept it from me.
After leaving home to recite,
"In the name of Allah, my Lord, I put my trust; there is no power but in Him."
Tawaf e Kaaba
Tawaf refers to the act of circling the Kaaba seven times. Tawaf participants kiss the Black Stone, also known as the Hajr e Aswad. Then the group travels to Maqam e Ibrahim, where they pray: "And take you (pilgrims) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of Supplication." (Quran: 2:125)
Say’ee
Between the Safaa and Marwah mountains is where they conduct Say'ee, and Allah says,
"Indeed, As-Safaa and Al-Marwah are among Allah's proofs. As a result, the tawaf around them is not a sin for the one who performs Hajj or Umrah at the home (holy Kaaba). Allah is All-Knowing and All-Recognizing of those who do good on their own volition. (2:158 of the Holy Koran)
