Benchtop Conductivity Meter

A benchtop conductivity meter is a scientific instrument used to measure the electrical conductivity of a liquid solution. It is a versatile and precise tool commonly found in laboratories, research facilities, industrial settings, and educational institutions.

Measurement Range: Benchtop conductivity meters can measure a wide range of conductivity values, typically from very low to very high conductivity. The unit of measurement is often in Siemens per centimeter (S/cm) or micro Siemens per centimeter (μS/cm).

Conductivity Cell: The meter is equipped with a conductivity cell or probe, which is the part of the instrument that comes into contact with the liquid sample. The cell contains two or four electrodes that facilitate the measurement of electrical conductivity.

Calibration: To ensure accuracy, benchtop conductivity meters require regular calibration using standard solutions of known conductivity. This calibration process allows the instrument to establish a relationship between the electrical signal it measures and the actual conductivity of the sample.

Temperature Compensation: Many benchtop conductivity meters include automatic temperature compensation (ATC) to correct for changes in the sample's conductivity due to temperature variations. This is essential as conductivity is highly temperature-dependent.

Display: The meter typically features a digital display that shows the measured conductivity value. Some models may also provide additional information like temperature and calibration status.
