International competitions begin to resume with the Hangzhou Asian Games

After a nearly four-year hiatus, golf and tennis tournaments are set to resume in China.

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour will hold the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open ($259,000 in prize money) in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, 사설토토 from Nov. 18.

This will be the first time in three years and eight months that a WTA Tour event has been held in mainland China since the Shenzhen Open in January 2020.

The tournament will be followed by the Ningbo Open, China Open, Zhengzhou Open, Hong Kong Open, Jiangxi Open and Elite Trophy in early November.

The WTA Tour in China was suspended in the first half of 2020 due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and in late 2021, the country was banned from hosting tournaments due to the issue of Chinese player Peng Shui.

In November 2021, after Peng Shui alleged that she was sexually assaulted by former Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, there was global concern for her safety, and the WTA announced that it would suspend tour events in China until the allegations against Peng Shui were resolved.

However, in April of this year, the WTA announced that it would resume hosting tour events in China, the first of which is next week's Guangzhou Open.

The men's ATP Tour also has events in China, 스포츠토토맨 including the Chengdu Open and Zhuhai Championships next week.

This will be the first ATP Tour event in China in nearly four years, since the Shanghai Masters in October 2019.

A look at the 2019 LPGA Tour Buick Shanghai

Golf's global tours are returning to China for the first time in years.

The U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour's Buick Shanghai ($2.1 million purse) will be held in Shanghai, China, for four days beginning Oct. 12.

It will be the first time in four years that the LPGA Tour has traveled to China since the 2019 event. "We are on track to host this year's event in Shanghai," said an LPGA Tour official.

In early November, Shenzhen, China, will host the Volvo China Open ($1.5 million purse), an Asian Tour event that will become a DP World Tour event in May 2024.

The Volvo China Open was co-hosted by the European Tour and Asian Tour in 2019, was reduced to a domestic Chinese event in 2020 and 2021, and was not held in 2022.

China's General Secretary of the General Administration of Sport Gao Zhidan, left, and IOC President Bach.

China has hosted few international competitions since the COVID-19 pandemic, with the exception of the Winter Olympics in February 2022.

Political tensions with the WTA Tour, in particular, led to the country putting the event on hold.

But after hosting the World University Games in Chengdu in July, the country appears to be breaking out of its shell this month with the Hangzhou Asian Games and tour events in tennis and golf.

"Bring glory to the nation and showcase the power of China's modern sports training," said Gao Zhidan, General Secretary of the General Administration of Sport of the People's Republic of China, at the signing ceremony of the Chinese national team for the Hangzhou Asian Games on Wednesday. "Let's raise the political consciousness of all athletes and present a positive image of our country's reform, economic development and social progress to Asia and the international community through this competition." 토토
