The third foreign head coach in the history of men's professional volleyball, OK Financial Group head coach Masashi Ogino, has set a goal of "minimizing errors" as the first step in improving his team.

"We set a goal of 10 or fewer serving errors and eight or fewer attack errors per game," Ogino said ahead of the team's upcoming match against KB Insurance at Uijeongbu Gymnasium in Gyeonggi-do on Sept. 24.

"In the Japanese league, even if a match goes to five sets, there are no more than five attacking errors, so we practice with the goal of (minimizing errors)," Ogino explained.

In the 2022-2023 regular season, all seven teams averaged 15.69 serving errors and 7.22 attack errors per game. OK Financial Group had 16.56 serving errors and 6.86 attack errors.

While some may argue that this is an overly ambitious goal, especially when it comes to serve errors, Ogino has already proven that it is feasible in his V-League debut on April 20.

In his team's 3-1 (16-25 25-20 25-17 25-16) victory over the Korea Electric Power Company, OK Financial Group recorded four service and four attack errors.

Foreign player Leonardo Leyva Martinez (registered name Leo) accounted for most of the errors with four serving errors and three attack errors.

"Leo is a player who needs to grow technically," said Ogino. He is lacking in all areas," said Ogino, "such as choosing an attacking course and how to enter the paint. If we can teach him these things, he will be able to take it off and grow into a better player."

KB Insurance head coach Hoo In-jung also noted OK Financial Group's minimization of errors.

"I watched OK Financial Group's first game and noticed that they had a lot fewer errors," he said. "I asked my players to reduce their errors as much as possible." 슬롯사이트
