What You Need to Know About NDIS Disability Services

The NDIS is a game-changing revolution in the way disability supports are planned, delivered and funded. It offers people with a permanent and significant disability the opportunity to control their own funding, through an individual plan of reasonable and necessary supports.

However, the NDIS’s decision-making test of ‘reasonable and necessary’ is unclear and drives disputes with participants.

NDIS Plan Review

A key part of the NDIS is that participants can request a plan review at any time, if they believe their circumstances have changed. They can ask the NDIA to change something about their current plan, such as the amount or type of funding, or to change how their funding is spent.

Each NDIS plan has a reassessment date built into it. The NDIA will contact participants or their authorised representative 3 months before the reassessment is due to check in and confirm details. They can then work with you to book a plan reassessment meeting that can be face-to-face, over the phone or via video call.

The reassessment meeting is an opportunity to discuss how your supports are working to help you move towards your goals and what you want to achieve in your next plan. It is a great opportunity to use end of plan progress reports from your providers as evidence to support your request.

NDIS Plan Management

A Plan Management provider can help with the financial side of managing your NDIS funding. They will be able to quickly pay your providers’ invoices and keep a close eye on your budget. They can also provide you with monthly reports so everyone involved is aware of what’s happening. All ndis disability services offers stress-free plan management, connecting you with your own personal plan manager who can handle all the heavy lifting on your behalf.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) provides funding in your NDIS Plan to pay for a Plan Management provider. If you want to become plan-managed, let the NDIA know at your planning meeting. Participants who choose to be planmanaged report having less stress and a better relationship with their NDIS providers. It’s important to find a plan management provider that you feel

comfortable with and who can respond quickly to your invoices. Some providers, like Mable, are creating really efficient and transparent solutions that will help you manage your NDIS funding.

NDIS Provider List

NDIS participants have a lot of flexibility in their plan to choose which registered

NDIS service providers they want to use. Depending on the participant’s disability and how it affects their life, there are different types of NDIS support services that can be delivered by registered service providers.

Interestingly, around two-fifths of NDIS payments are spent with non-registered providers. We interviewed 30 NDIS participants and their plan nominees about the reasons why they use unregistered providers and what challenges they faced with these arrangements.

There are several online resources that help NDIS participants and their planners find both registered and unregistered NDIS providers. Clickability, Hireup and Mable are some examples of services that can be used to search for providers across Australia. They all have tools that can be used to filter providers by distance, availability and age. Some provide additional filters such as pricing, worker screening and qualifications. These resources can help NDIS participants, their family and their plan managers make more informed choices about which providers to hire.

The NDIS is Australia’s national scheme that gives you peace of mind by funding the support you need to improve your skills and independence over time. It’s for people with permanent and significant disability care, and it works to connect you to community and government supports that will help you achieve your goals.

Services can include therapies like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and psychological therapy. They can also include specialised aids and equipment. You can find out more by visiting the NDIS website or calling them directly.

NDIS has a participant service guarantee to support positive experiences with the scheme. This means that you’ll get agreed timeframes for things like when you’ll receive a decision on your eligibility, get your NDIS plan, and have it reviewed. You’ll also have access to a complaints process for when things go wrong. If you have a complaint, you should make it as soon as possible – in person or in writing.
