How NDIS Transport Services Can Help People With Restricted Mobility?

Do you know you can avail transportation assistance though the NDIS transport providers in Sydney? People with restricted mobility face unique challenges when it comes to transportation. Lack of accessible transport options, physical barriers - name it; these pose significant hurdles to mobility. Due to this growing need of accessible means of mobility and transport services, the Australian Government has introduced a unique travel assistance plan for the NDIS participants.

Understanding Transport Services Under NDIS

If your loved ones with varying abilities need travel assistance in Sydney, you can obtain the necessary funding for a specialised transport facility when their disabilities prevent them from accessing public transport. However, the scheme is only for the participants and does not extend to their caregivers or family members.

Types of NDIS Funding for Transport Assistance

The transport allowance under NDIS falls under three categories. You can consult with your plan manager to check your eligibility and find out for which level you qualify for. It includes:

Level 1: For participants who aren’t engaged in any day programs, study modules and not employed but seeking transportation assistance.

Level 2: For participants who are employed or study less than 15 hours a week or attend day programs, and seeking travel assistance.

Level 3: For participants who are studying or work more than 15 hours per week, seeking NDIS reimbursements

However, keep in mind that these funds are only allocated to NDIS transport providers in Sydney who are responsible for transporting you to community activities or to doctor appointments and likewise. This allowance is not meant to cover expenses like fuel costs, any unforeseen expenses, tipping drivers, etc.

How Participants Can Receive Their Funding?

NDIS participants have the option to obtain the funding directly to their bank account every 14 days as periodic payments. The participants can also opt for annual payments if it suits their plan well. It is always requested to get in touch with a support provider who will assess your condition and provide you with the right travel assistance.

You can either manage this plan by yourself or opt for plan-managed. For that, a part of the total funding will be paid to the plan manager as commissions.
