Winning the Genesis Invitational “I achieved my goal by exceeding Choi Kyung-joo’s 8 wins

Hideki Matsuyama (32, Japan) recorded the most wins among Asian players on the PGA Tour. Matsuyama took 9 birdies and no bogeys in the final 4th round of the PGA Tour Genesis Invitational held at Palisades Riviera Country Club (par 71) in California, USA on the 19th, and stood at the top with a final total of 17 under par, 267 strokes. He beat Will Zalatoris (28, USA) and Luke List (39, USA), who were tied for second place, by three strokes and took home the prize money of $4 million (approximately 5.34 billion won). 파워볼사이트

Matsuyama, who suffered from back injuries, etc., broke his winning drought two years and one month after the Sony Open in January 2022 and recorded his ninth win on the tour. It is the most wins by an Asian player, surpassing Choi Gyeong-ju's (54) record of 8 wins. Matsuyama became the first Asian player to win the Masters in 2021. Matsuyama said, “It was one of my big goals to surpass Choi Kyung-joo and achieve 9 wins. After eight wins, there were many times when he felt that it would be difficult to win again due to a back injury. “I’m happy that I was able to win again today,” he said.

Matsuyama, who entered the fourth round in a tie for 7th place, 6 strokes behind leader Patrick Cantlay (32, USA), made three birdies in three consecutive holes for a dramatic comeback victory. He succeeded in a birdie putt from a distance of 14 meters in the 12th hole (par 4). Matsuyama, who made a birdie with his second shot at the 15th hole (par 4) 20cm from the hole, said, “It was the best shot of my life.” Matsuyama also took the lead by winning a birdie in the 16th hole (par 3) by placing his tee shot 15cm into the hole. 슬롯게이밍
