Lotte Giants pitcher Na Kyun-an (26), who recently came under fire due to suspicions of an affair, will remain in the starting lineup and prepare for the 2024 season.

After completing the spring camp in Okinawa, Japan, the Lotte team returned to Korea through Incheon International Airport on the 5th and immediately took the team bus to Busan. Na Kyun-an, who completed the camp schedule, also left the arrival hall with his colleagues.

Lotte was noisy due to Na Kyun-an's privacy issues during the camp period.

Wife A, who married Na Kyun-an in December 2020, claimed on the 27th of last month, “I have known about my husband’s affair since the summer of last year.”

Ms. A said that after Na Kyun-an discovered her affair, she demanded a divorce and even subjected her to domestic violence. She also revealed that after Na Kyun-an left her house in October last year, he did not come to see her child and did not pay her child support.

However, Na Kyun-an said through the club, “What has been reported recently is not true. She strongly denied the allegations surrounding her, saying, “We are in the process of taking legal action against her.” She did, however, admit that she and Mr. A were in divorce proceedings.

Lotte also retained ‘key pitcher’ Na Kyun-an in the camp and completed the remaining schedule. Na Kyun-an also maintained his position as starting pitcher.

Na Kyun-an appeared in 23 games last year and showed impressive performance with 6 wins, 8 losses, and an average ERA of 3.80. He received the KBO League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in April, wore the Taegeuk emblem, and won a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Na Kyun-an is playing a part in the starting lineup this season as well. Na Kyun-an pitched twice in the Okinawa camp practice game and pitched well, allowing one run in a total of four innings.

Lotte plans to use a starting rotation consisting of Charlie Barnes, Aaron Wilkerson, Park Se-woong, Lee In-bok, Han Hyun-hee, and Na Kyun-an. Shim Jae-min and Lee Min-seok will be used as backup starters to fill any holes in the starting lineup.

Joo Hyung-kwang, Lotte Giants pitching coach.

Lotte pitching coach Joo Hyung-kwang said, “We have confirmed about 9 to 10 players for the first team. “The remaining 2-3 positions will be decided after the exhibition game,” he said. “We will not only have 5 starting players, but we will prepare 6-7 players (ahead of the season opening). Still, from the perspective of a pitching coach, he is preparing with the hope that nothing happens (to Na Kyun-an),” he said.

He continued, “(Backup starters) Shim Jae-min and Lee Min-seok will be able to make it to the first team in around May. Still, it is good for the team not to find them too quickly. In any case, the existing starting pitchers, including Na Kyun-an, must perform the rotation smoothly,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lotte will play 10 exhibition games, starting with the SSG Landers match on the 9th and ending with the KT Wiz match on the 19th. Among them, the Hanwha Eagles game held at Sajik Stadium in Busan on the 17th is attracting the most attention due to Ryu Hyun-jin's starting mound.

Coach Joo said about this, “We don’t have enough time to express expectations about the opponent’s pitching. “I think we need to check our players first,” he said with a smile, and then added, “But looking at the professional baseball scene, the return of a big player like Ryu Hyun-jin is a welcome thing. “Wouldn’t the popularity of professional baseball become even hotter?” 온라인섯다
