Hana Financial Singapore Open opens tomorrow. Lee, who won three gold medals last year, “This year’s most wins” Park Min-ji with 18 wins, 3 more wins, 'most wins' Defending champion Park Ji-young, challenges for a total of 8 wins. Tawatanakat recently won the European-American Tour

The Korean Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour will kick off its 2024 season with the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women's Open, which will be held at Tanah Merah Country Club (par 72) in Singapore for four days starting on the 7th. This season's KLPGA tour will continue for nine months until November, with a total of 30 competitions (total prize money of 32 billion won).

The most noteworthy player in this opening tournament is Lee Ye-won (21), who won three KLPGA Tour crowns last year (grand prize, money winner, and lowest number of strokes). Lee Ye-won, who sweated while training in Australia all winter, expressed her determination for the new season, saying, “This year, I will aim to become the champion with more than four wins.” Lee Ye-won, who won the 2022 Tour Rookie of the Year, won three times last year, but lost the most wins to Lim Jin-hee (26), who had four wins. Jinhee Lim will be playing on the LPGA Tour starting this year.

The second-year trio, including Bang Shin-sil (20), Hwang Yu-min (21), and Kim Min-byeol (20), who created a sensation among rookies last year, will also participate in this competition. Bang Shin-sil, who had two wins in his debut season, and Hwang Yu-min, who had one win, also attracted a lot of attention with their long-hitting match. Last year, Bang Shin-sil ranked first overall (262 yards) and Hwang Yu-min ranked second (257 yards) in average driving distance. Last year's rookie of the year, Kim Min-byeol, is determined to report his first win this season. Kim Min-byeol, who participated in 29 competitions last year, showed consistent results by placing in the top 10 12 times, including runner-up three times, but was unable to lift the championship trophy.

Minji Park (26), a popular player with a total of 18 wins on the KLPGA Tour, will also participate. If Park Min-ji adds three more wins, she will become the tour's all-time winner. Ji-ae Shin (36) and Ok-hee Koo (1956-2013), who are active in the Japan Ladies Professional Golf (JLPGA) tour, have each won 20 times. Park Min-ji won six wins in two consecutive years, including 2021 and 2022, and took the prize money title, but faltered somewhat with two wins last year. Park Min-ji is preparing for this season, saying, “I will approach it with the attitude of a rookie.” ‘Defending champion’ Park Ji-young (28) will defend her title and attempt to win her eighth tour title.

Patty Tawatanakit (25), who has emerged as a strong player in the LPGA Tour, and 'long hitter' Natakrita Wongtawirap (22, Thailand) will also participate in this tournament and compete for the championship with KLPGA Tour players. Tawatanakit reached the top of both the Ladies European Tour (LET) Aramco Saudi International and the LPGA Tour Honda Thailand last month. If Tawatanakat, who is participating in the sponsored competition as a member of Hana Financial Group, takes first place this time, he will set a record of winning the European, American, and Korean tours within a month. Wong Tawi Lap, who is ranked first in driving distance on the LPGA Tour, has a driver shot that is as good as that of male players (average driving distance of 294 yards).

This tournament, co-hosted by the KLPGA and the Singapore Golf Association and held as part of the Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) series, will feature 108 players from the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and New Zealand, participating. Hana Financial Group has Hyo-song Lee (16), who finished second at the 'Women's Asia Pacific Amateur Championship' held in Thailand on the 4th, Su-min Oh (16), who joined the national team this season after serving as a member of the national team, and Esther Kwon (14), a Korean-American. Three teenage amateur players were also invited.

The domestic opening match of this season's KLPGA Tour is the Doosan Construction We've Championship, which will be held in Seogwipo City, Jeju from the 4th to 7th of next month. 스포츠토토
