Autumn Internationals Tickets: Holland Back for Autumn Tests

When Munster legend and current All Blacks assistant coach Jason Holland returned to Ireland for the Autumn Internationals, he made a special visit to CBC’s Lansdowne grounds where he once coached to lead a session for the Senior Cup team. With ongoing speculation about his potential move, fans may be eager to secure Autumn Internationals Tickets in hopes of seeing Ponga in action for the All Blacks soon.

His connection to the school remains strong, and on Tuesday morning, CBC head coach Dave Lee received a text from Holland from New Zealand, sending his well wishes ahead of the Christians-Pres Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup final, which will be live-streamed by the Irish Examiner. Holland’s message served as a reminder of the deep ties between past and present generations of CBC rugby.

Holland, affectionately known as Dutchy, has a deep history with CBC, and his visit earlier in the season was a major highlight for the team. With the final kicking off at 3 a.m. New Zealand time, Holland faces either a late night or an early morning to keep up with the action. That session was one of the highlights of the season, Lee said.

He texted to say, these are the best times of your lives, so make sure the lads enjoy it. And that’s important. We’d love to treat it as just another game, but the buzz around the school makes it feel like much more. The message is to enjoy the week. This year’s CBC team is determined to turn past heartbreak into success.

Autumn Internationals 2025 Tickets: Redemption Ahead of Autumn Tests

Many of the players have endured multiple final defeats at the hands of their fierce rivals, Pres, who are chasing a historic treble. Eight of CBC’s starting players from last year’s final remain, including six of the backline. Captain Charlie O’Shea, half-back partner Christopher Barrett. And winger Alex O’Connell are all playing in their third consecutive Senior Cup final.

Several of them were also part of the 2022 Junior Cup final, where Pres edged them out 14-10. Lee believes the team’s past experiences will fuel their determination rather than hinder them. I don’t see any negative impact from being in two finals and falling short,  Lee said. If anything, these lads have that extra drive to turn past disappointments into something positive on Thursday.

Having been involved with CBC for 12 years, Lee took over as head coach this season after serving as forwards coach last year. His school days were also filled with near misses in the cup final, often at the hands of a young Anthony Foley-led St. Munchin’s team. As thrill builds for the future Autumn Internationals 2025 Tickets, rugby fans are eagerly anticipating top-level clashes.

Anthony Foley’s team beat us in my sixth year. There was just one point in it at Musgrave Park. The year before, we lost to Pres in the semi-final, Lee recalled. Even in the Junior Cup, we were beaten by an Anthony Foley-led team. He was doing everything goal-kicking too. Unfortunately, I never won one. We had good teams, but we just fell short. I suppose that only increases the hunger.

Autumn Internationals 2025: Historic Title Amid Fierce Rivalry

Despite past setbacks, CBC has enjoyed an outstanding season under Lee’s leadership. Like Pres, they have won every Senior Cup match with at least four tries, even scoring over 50 points in three of their five games. We’ve had a great season from start to finish, Lee said. We started earlier than usual, coming back in mid-July instead of waiting for the school term.

That gave us a full pre-season and allowed me to get to know the players coming through. We’ve had a lot of success. We only lost one game all year, against Blackrock in Dublin on a warm-weather training trip to Alicante, which helped the team. They gave us a bit of a hiding that day, so we reflected on it because it wasn’t good enough.

We wanted to approach it professionally, but also as a bonding experience. Adding to the team’s momentum is the inspiring return of Craig Hughes, who suffered a serious leg injury in October. Craig broke his leg badly, and at the time, it looked like a season-ending injury, Lee said. But he worked incredibly hard, and now, just four months later, he’s made the matchday 25.

It’s a brilliant feat for him. Ahead of the big match, CBC’s former players now Ireland U20 regulars Michael Foy, Éanna McCarthy, and Conor Kennelly returned to present jerseys to the team. The rivalry between CBC and Pres remains as fierce as ever, with Christians aiming to equal Pres’ record of 32 titles. As hope builds for the Autumn Internationals 2025, rugby fans are witnessing the same passion.
