Mutations are how you make real money in Grow A Garden. They raise the value of your plants. Some pets can also turn plants or other animals into mutated versions. If you want to earn fast, you need the right mutations or a way to boost your odds.
Many players spend most of their time figuring out which mutations are worth chasing. There are a lot of them, and some matter more than others. Here’s a simple breakdown so you know what to look for, why events matter, and which pets can give you the biggest boost.
The best mutations are the ones with the highest sell multipliers. Cosmic, Shocked, Paradisal, Celestial, and Dawnbound sit at the top in the base game. They’re also hard to get. You need random lightning or meteors, stacked weather effects, or a rare visit from the sunflower god. Pets with the Ascended mutation can raise plant value by 150x, but most players never see them. You can make these calculations quickly with grow a garden calculator.
Best Base-Game Mutations
- Cosmic
- Shocked
- Paradisal
- Celestial
- Dawnbound
- Sundried
- Frozen
- Disco
- Meteoric
Among regular weather effects, Heat Wave is the one to hope for. It creates the Sundried mutation, which gives an 85x multiplier. It’s rare, but simple: if Heat Wave is active, your crops or pets can get it.
After that, the numbers drop fast. Frozen crops give a 10x multiplier and are much easier to get. You just need a Wet or Drenched plant to be hit with Frost. Sushi Bears can also apply Frozen.

Why Events Matter
Your best long-term strategy is to go after event weather and event pets. Getting the event pet takes time and resources, plus a bit of luck when hatching. But they’re powerful.
Some events apply effects on their own. For example, the Zen update added Zen and Corrupt weather, which automatically converted plants and boosted their value by 20x.
The strongest event pets right now are the Disco Bee and the Lobster Thermidor. They can trigger Disco and Meteoric mutations, each giving a 125x multiplier.
Event-Only Mutations
These show up only during limited events or through special items. Older Admin Abuse events count, too. If you still have the pets or items after an event, you can keep using them, but the weather won’t come back until that event returns.
If you send more text or want a shorter version, I can rewrite that too.
