This guide covers all grant payment dates for July 2026, explains what each date means for you, and includes an urgent warning about the Postbank Gold Card deadline you cannot afford to miss.
SASSA Payment Dates for July 2026
SASSA pays different grants on different days each month. This is done to prevent overcrowding at pay points and ATMs. Here are the confirmed SASSA payment dates for July 2026:
Grant Type Payment Date Day
Older Persons Grant (Old Age Pension) 2 July 2026 Thursday
Disability Grant 3 July 2026 Friday
Children’s Grants (Child Support, Care Dependency, Foster Care) 6 July 2026 Monday

What These Dates Mean for Each Beneficiary
Older Persons Grant — 2 July 2026
If you receive the Older Persons Grant (also known as the old age pension), your grant will be available from Thursday, 2 July 2026. This includes both the standard older persons grant and the higher grant paid to those aged 75 and above.
Disability Grant — 3 July 2026
Disability grant recipients will be paid from Friday, 3 July 2026. If you access your grant through an ATM, a SASSA card, or a bank account, your money should be available early that morning.
Children’s Grants — 6 July 2026
All children’s grants are paid last, from Monday, 6 July 2026. This includes:
Child Support Grant — paid to a caregiver for each qualifying child under 18
Care Dependency Grant — paid to a caregiver for a child with a severe disability
Foster Child Grant — paid to a foster parent for a child placed in their care by a court
Can You Withdraw Your Grant After the Payment Date?
Yes. You do not have to collect your grant on the exact payment date. Your money stays in your account and you can withdraw it at any time after the payment date, at your own convenience.
However, collecting on the first day often means longer queues at ATMs and retail pay points. Consider waiting a day or two if it is safe to do so and you do not urgently need the funds.
If your grant has not arrived after a few days of the confirmed payment date, check your SASSA payment status for 2026 or contact SASSA directly on 0800 60 10 11 (toll-free).
⚠️ Urgent: Postbank Gold Card Deadline — 31 August 2026
Alongside the July payment dates, Postbank has issued an urgent reminder to all SASSA beneficiaries who still use a SASSA Gold Card: you must replace it with a new Postbank Black Card before 31 August 2026.
After this deadline, SASSA Gold Cards will stop working completely. Beneficiaries who have not switched to the Black Card will be unable to access their social grant payments using the old card.
“Anyone without a Black Card after the deadline will need to first obtain a new card before they can access payments.”
— Thami Cele, Postbank Chief Commercial Officer
Postbank has confirmed that the deadline will not be extended. With July and August being the last two grant payment months before the cutoff, beneficiaries are urged to switch now before queues become overwhelming.
How to Get Your Postbank Black Card
The replacement is completely free of charge — you will not be asked to pay anything.
Bring your valid South African ID or temporary ID when you go to collect the card.
Cards can be collected at Postbank service points inside Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and SPAR stores nationwide.
You can collect from any province — it does not have to be the province where your grant was approved.
The Black Card works immediately upon collection. You do not need to visit a SASSA office after getting it.
Any remaining balance on your old Gold Card will automatically carry over to the new Black Card.
To find your nearest collection point, dial *120*355# on your phone.
No forms are required. If anyone asks you to sign or complete a form, that is not a genuine Postbank Black Card — do not accept it.
Make sure the card reads “Postbank” on the front. If it does not, it may be a scam.
For assistance, contact Postbank on their toll-free number: 0800 5354 55.

Important Tips for SASSA Beneficiaries in July 2026
Know your payment date. Write it down or set a reminder on your phone so you are prepared.
Avoid the first-day rush. If you can wait a day or two after your payment date, queues will be shorter and safer.
Protect your PIN. Never share your SASSA card PIN with anyone — not even someone claiming to work for SASSA or Postbank.
Watch out for scams. SASSA does not charge fees for grant payments. Anyone asking for payment to release your grant is a fraudster.
Update your banking details if needed. If your bank account has changed, update it as soon as possible through the SASSA online portal. Read our guide on how to update your SASSA banking details in 2026.
Check your grant status online. If you are unsure whether your grant is active or your payment is delayed, you can check your SASSA SRD status here.
