Microsoft puts Office apps for Windows 10 on hold

Microsoft first started working on its touch-friendly version of Office apps for Windows 8.1 years ago and it made it possible for users to work from their handy devices.

The program designed for touch screens devices such as tablets, laptops, supported Androids, the productivity tools are lightweight and fast responding versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Now, the organization has broken off the progress of Windows 10 Mobile and is planning to pause the work on these Office apps.

As per the sources, the consideration is being made that the apps are pretty much dead, since Microsoft dropped the idea of continuing the development of Windows 10 for touch-devices.

The American multinational technology company is now prioritizing the development for the iOS and Android versions of their apps in Win32 and web versions.

These touch-friendly versions of MS Office were once a great example of how much developers can accomplish if they made Windows apps to be used by nearly every device, but Microsoft now lets the developers just to wrap the existing desktop Office utilities and place them in the store.
