BEIJING Reuters - Apple Inc will boost its investment in China, one of its most important but increasingly difficult markets, and build its first Asia-Pacific research and development centre in the country, Chief Executive Tim Cook said on Tuesday.

Demand for Apple's phones has plummeted in China, and the government maintains a wary attitude towards foreign technology.

This is at least the CEO's second trip to the country in four months.

Apple's new research and development centre will be built by the end of the year, Cook told Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, one of China's most senior officials, according to the official Chinese state broadcaster.

The pledge comes after the head of China's industry and technology regulator in May told Cook he hoped Apple could deepen its cooperation with the country in research and development and stressed information security.

In fact, analyst Timothy Arcuri writes, a slow 2016 might simply be setting Apple up for a "powder keg" 2017.

"Let's break this down: Cowen estimates that Apple will sell about 75 million iPhones in the rest of 2016, which means that Apple will essentially sell as many iPhones in 2016 as it did last year.Given that the iPhone is the growth engine for Apple, that's bad news for the stock.

But here's the good news for Apple: in the next five quarters, Cowen estimates that 43% of iPhone users will be on a device older than two years, and will be ready for an upgrade. And Cowen acknowledges the rumors that Apple is preparing a very sweet iPhone upgrade with an new screen using OLED technology for the 2017 cycle, which it thinks is setting Apple up for a huge upgrade cycle.

Acuri writes:"While iPhone 7 still looks about flat with iPhone 6S and macro risk is clear, our new installed base analysis suggests a 'powder keg' is forming.

Against a backdrop of a new OLED-enabled form-factor in '17, this argues that either 1 iPhone 7 is better than expected, or more likely 2 a 'super-cycle' is setting up for iPhone in '17.

Cowen gives Apple stock an outperform rating and a price target of $125.NOW WATCH: Mark Cuban explains why downloading Snapchat is a huge mistakeLoading video...

Amazon is growing "aggressively" in platform-as-a-service, a key segment of the cloud market, Gartner analyst Ed Anderson told Business Insider.

This underscores Amazon increasingly dominant position in cloud computing, even as Microsoft, Alibaba and Google also remained formidable rivals.

Amazon's share of the core infrastructure-as-a-service segment of the cloud has slipped, as its "growth engine" has shifted to platform services, Anderson said.

Nearly 20 percent of U.S. households now contain 10 or more connected devices, and as consumers increasingly work new communication tools into their daily lives, they are also demanding multichannel options when they need customer service and expect it to be faster and easier to use than ever.

Not all companies, however, are meeting those expectations.

New research shows that 70 percent of U.S. consumers say being able to get customer service via multiple channels is important to them, while 36 percent will switch channels if their issue isn’t resolved within an hour.

Yet, many seeking customer service report having trouble getting through to knowledgeable agents, having to wait longer than they expect and having trouble navigating automated systems.

Chatbots are only part of the solution, according to Mark Sherwin, managing director at Accenture Interactive.

Brands need to better understand the conversations consumers are seeking and make them possible, which means stitching together artificial intelligence and human empathy, designing conversations, curating experiences and constantly evolving.

Citrix is mere weeks away from releasing the containerised version of its NetScaler application delivery controller is revealed last December.

NetScaler CPX was shown off at the company's Synergy conference last month, but NetScaler veep and general manager Ash Chowdappa today told The Register the software has snuck into a we'll sell it if you really must have it now version and will be generally available by month's end.

Chowdappa said the swift release is attributable to strong demand: apparently folks footling with containers find they make a lot of East/West traffic as containers spawn wherever they can.

Chowdappa explained that, ideally, when containers are created and/or orchestrated with the likes of Kubernetes it makes sense to fire up a CPX Container too, so that the whole collection of containers in a microservice can start to enjoy its light traffic-tickling touch.

Shelling out for NetScaler CPX is therefore going to give you very good reasons to consider other bits of the NetScaler suite.

No wonder Chowdappa seemed unruffled when he told The Register NetScaler's expected to become a growth engine for Citrix.

I just launched the first in a series of three Facebook ad/audience building experiments for GrowthBOKs.

I’m testing a few new tactics using Facebook ads and video.

The three videos in the queue are… - The overlooked conversion trigger that nearly guarantees sales… (LIVE NOW: https://growthhackers.com/articles/the-conversion-trigger-that-nearly-guarantees-sales) - Our Most Persuasive Sense… (COMING NEXT) - The personal key to unstoppable growth (COMING LAST) The experiment follows the growth engine process, which is part of why I’m doing it.

The doors to Zero to Growth Engine (my course) open in a few weeks.

I’m thinking about sharing the results, things like traffic and conversion data, as well as ad costs and performance.

It’ll be a clear view of what worked and what didn’t.

How CCM Completes the Circle CRM Started

As someone who has spent over 30 years selling software solutions that impact business outcomes, I have recently found myself at a point of wanting to define and provide clarity/perspective on how CRM solutions have awakened organizations to the idea of a Unified Communications Strategy, and how CCM Customer Communications Management solutions can help organizations realize this goal.

Over the past 10 years, organizations have flocked to Customer Relationship Management CRM solutions to help build and manage customer relationships across marketing efforts and customer lifecycles, optimizing customer value at each stage and recognizing that not all customers require the same effort or approach to solving a problem.

Organizations are now exposed to the widest picture yet of individual customers, allowing them to dedicate the appropriate resources and attention to different types of customers AND different types of customer interactions.

Communications are critical to establish, grow, and maintain customer relationships, which are the key to driving revenue for companies.

Let s start with the basics.
