Nearly 100% of India Got Household Toilets, What Next? – An Unfolding Story of ODF Plus

With the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan steering the country to near 100% sanitation coverage from a mere 38.7% before October 2014, the mega target of making India Open Defecation Free (ODF) has seen near completion.

So, since October 2014, the government has built 9.65 crore rural household toilets to this day, while in all of the period between 1947 and 2014 the number of household toilets built was 6.37 crore.

Regular availability and usage of toilets

Management of solid and liquid waste

Cleanliness of water resources, maintenance of public and household toilets

Awareness on personal hygiene including MHM (menstrual hygiene management)
