Sandblasting Service

Sandblasting is a multipurpose technique employed for the roughening of surfaces or cleaning them. The process is carried out through sandblasting equipment and involves 'blasting' compressed air or steam at high speeds for glass etching or cleaning metallic surfaces. For typical applications, sandblasting equipment consists of a blaster nozzle and air compressor to propel the abrasive at high pressure. Depending on the application, the type of grit varies.

Uses of grit

Some common types of grits used for sandblasting include: Copper and Iron Slag, Aluminium Oxide, Crushed Glass, Glass Beads and shells of walnuts. Aluminium oxide is normally used for surface finishing and preparation. Glass grit is ideal for removing contaminants from surfaces that are aggressive in nature. Plastic abrasives are used to scrape off paint and other coatings without damaging the underlying surface. Similarly, Walnut shells come in handy for aggressive scraping and cleaning without causing harm to the surface. Another grit commonly used for treatment of delicate surfaces is corn cobs. The substrate remains intact and the contaminants are stripped off. Steel grit is used for treatment of rough and aggressive surfaces. It is softer than Aluminium Oxide. On the other hand, steel shot as grit gives the metallic surface a smooth and polished look. Sandblasting Service Malaysia

Cleaning and Roughening Surfaces

Rusty surfaces, burred components, surface scales and aging, machine wear and tear are some inevitable problems that Australian industry's encounter. This is where sandblasting equipment plays its vital role to prolong the machinery and equipment life. Sandblasting allows easy removal of rust and preparation of surfaces to apply coatings and paint. Without paint, lustre and perfect finishing, products do not appeal to the customer in a highly competitive market. Prior to applying the paint layer, sandblasting effectively knocks out surface imperfections thus giving a smooth appearance. Rusty components affect the performance of machinery and if rust is not removed timely, the machine or a part of it can be damaged permanently. Furthermore, sandblasting is used on plastic components that have developed mould. Sandblasting equipment is also employed for cleansing of stones, bricks and concrete work. In addition, the high velocity propulsion of grit allows efficient cleaning of boat hulls too.

Surface Shaping and carving

Due to wear and tear, metallic components can go out of shape. With the aid of sandblast equipment, edge profiling and component reshaping can be achieved. A typical application of sandblasting equipment is monument letter engraving for cemeteries. Three dimensional signing achieved through sandblasting brings more satisfaction from customers compared to flat signs. Furthermore, for interior decoration, sandblasting is used for artwork; the technique works superbly on acrylic. Buildings are refurbished through sandblasting equipment. For wood signage, the rings on the wood are made significant from the grains by raising them through sandblasting which gives a very pleasing appearance. Words and images may be carved through glass etching. This effect is also referred to as the 'snowing' of glass which makes it semi-opaque. The sandblasting stencil used for glass carving allows different angles for creating different shades. With perfect lighting, it gives your interior a lovely appearance. Although, the sandblasting equipment for artistic effects is fairly expensive, the beauty of glass carving and etching is worth it.   Sandblasting Company Malaysia

Sandblasting equipment can be used for multiple purposes including residential beauty, commercial cleaning and industrial shaping or resurfacing applications.
