The Rugby Football League has confirmed that the final of the Coral Challenge Cup 2020 will be played Saturday, July 18 at Wembley Stadium.
This will be the first time since 2004, when St Helens beat Wigan in Cardiff on May 15th, that the final of the Challenge Cup will not take place in August.
Tickets will go on sale from October.
Mark Foster, Commercial Director of RFL, said, The move to the final of the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup in mid-July 2020 offers us a real opportunity to attract a crowd of spectators to the Rugby League’s flagship event at Wembley.
It will also be at a time when fewer people have gone on vacation and we will work hard over the next 11 months to educate sports fans, families and event enthusiasts to the reality of an extraordinary event with such extraordinary athletes on stage.
The final being played during the sessions gives us an excellent opportunity to work with the schools that play in the Rugby League, focusing in particular on a large number of London schools practicing our sport.
Ferdinand believes there is still work to be done before England can consider themselves among the tournament favourites.
“If you look at the results when England have played good teams, they haven’t been great,” he told Standard Sport.
