
Muscat: Tech giant Apple thanked Omani national Saif Al Hinai, after he found and alerted a major vulnerability in iOS system.
Al Hinai, a senior IT Security Analyst, who works with the Information Technology Authority’s (ITA) Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT) discovered an iOS loophole in iPhone 6S phones which could lead to a potential leak of user information to unauthorised people.
While admitting the loophole, Apple said it has fixed the issue.
“The loophole was in the
Quick Look feature and affected iPhone 6S.
Processing a maliciously crafted file may disclose user information, a permissions issue existed in which execute permission was incorrectly granted,” Apple said in a statement.
