Manual car washing - step by step advice

Nowadays, most car owners use touchless or automatic car washes, which significantly reduces the time needed to clean the car.

However, washing it once in a while by hand provides the possibility to do it much more accurately and take care of the car in a proper way. Washing the car by hand also allows you to very carefully take care of its appearance and paint condition.

Measures for manual car washing

Self-cleaning usually requires specialised equipment. Of course, this is not necessary and the car can be washed with any not very strong detergent, but the use of specially designed agents allows to take care of the car much more effectively. Shampoos for car washing are most often enriched with a glossy agent, and their composition guarantees that they are not harmful in any way to the paint. When used, specialist shampoos for cars produce active foam that softens the mess and allows you to easily get rid of it. The ingredients of such shampoos also significantly reduce the adhesion of dirt to the car surface in the future.

What will you need to wash your car?

Washing your car by hand will require the collection of several basic tools. First of all, you need a bucket of hot water in which you should dissolve the shampoo in the right proportion. The proportion in which the shampoo should be mixed with water is usually indicated on the packaging. You will also need a second bucket of clean water.

Sponges used for car washing should be as soft and thick as possible, so that they can produce as much active foam as possible. It is this foam that softens the dirt that settles on the car and allows it to be easily removed. In specialized shops you can buy many different types of sponges specially designed for car washing.

How to protect the paint from scratches during washing?

In order to effectively protect the paint during washing and protect it from scratches you should first of all choose an appropriate sponge. Such a sponge should be soft and made of a material which is not harmful to the paint. Besides, it should be remembered that a sponge should be rinsed every now and then during washing. If any hard particles - such as grains of sand - settle on the sponge and may cause scratches. Frequent sponge rinsing protects against this.

Apart from the things mentioned above, when washing the car, it is worth paying attention to the fact that no scratches, even the smallest ones, have appeared in the meantime. Freshly after washing, they are best visible, and early noticeable allow you to properly take care of the paint and do not allow for major damage.
