The title of CPEng is issued to an experienced engineer who has been evaluated as fulfilling a quality mark of competence. The candidate must be assessed again and again every six years for the maintenance of their Chartered credential. Although an engineer with this title has to show New Zealand-Specific technical experience, CPEng is a competency mark with global recognition. It means it maintains the Register of Chartered Professional Engineers and handles assessments and applications. This Council must comprise at least six, but not more than eight members including: 3 people chosen by Engineering New Zealand1 person who is selected by the Association of Consulting Engineers of New Zealand2 to 4 people chosen by the MinisterA Council Chairman and a Deputy ChairmanThe Council:· Approves and reviews any changes to the CPEng Rules that are related to minimum criteria for evaluation and ethical behavior.
