Solution 1:  Using Exchange Admin Centre (EAC)

You can connect deleted mailboxes to user accounts using EAC.  The process is the same for all types of mailboxes-linked mailboxes, resource mailboxes, and shared mailboxes.

  • First of all open EAC.
  • Then go to Recipients>Mailboxes and click on the More option.
  • After that select Connect a Mailbox option.
  • Select a deleted mailbox from the disconnected mailboxes list. Click Connect then click yes.
  • Now, you will get a list of user accounts (not mail-enabled). Click on that user account that you want to connect to the selected deleted mailbox. After that, click OK.

Now, your Exchange will be linked with the deleted mailbox to the selected user account, and so the deleted mailbox is available to the user again.

Solution 2: Connect a Deleted Mailbox to a User Account Using Exchange Management Shell (EMS)

When you are using Exchange Management Shell to connect a deleted mailbox to a user account, you must require the type of mailbox (whether it is shared, linked, room, or equipment mailbox). The general syntax is:

Connect-Mailbox-Identity“mailbox name”-Database -User“AD user account name”-Alias

Solution 3 – Re-connect a Deleted Mailbox

Before preparatory, remember that not more than one user can be connected to an Exchange mailbox. To reconnect a deleted mailbox, open Exchange Server Manager. Go to the mailbox store keeping disconnected mailboxes. Click Mailboxes. Then, Use right-click and click on the Clean-up Agent. Choose the disconnected mailboxes for recovery and then click reconnect. Lastly, select the associated user account and then click OK.

Solution 4 –Using Third-party Tools
