What to Expect from Sony in 2021

In the year 2020, Sony launched its next-generation console (PlayStation 5), headphones, and a few excellent smartphones. Overall, the year 2020 was quite great for Sony, and it will be quite interesting to know what Sony is planning to launch this year. In this article, we are going to look at only Sony’s upcoming smartphone launches. So let’s see what Sony has in its bag to offer us in the year 2021. Here we go!

Sony Xperia 5 III

Sony Xperia 5 II is one of the best smartphones launched by Sony in the year 2020. Many people bought this device and gave positive feedback. It offers you a clean UI along with a variety of features and decent specs. However, there are some issues with the phone, for example, its inconsistent theming, missing some basic features, settings are not so great, and camera performance is not fantastic either. Well, the device works nicely, but still, it will be interesting to see if Sony fixes all these issues in its upcoming Sony Xperia 5 III. Let’s see what features Sony adds to Sony’s Xperia 5 III smartphone and when the company launches it.

A High-Quality Camera Phone

People are crazy about smartphones with high-quality cameras. Sony already offered some smartphones with triple 12MP camera setups, but we would love to see Sony making smartphones with the more powerful camera hardware. Most smartphone manufacturers are already offering smartphones with 48MP, 64MP, and even more powerful camera lenses. Sony is already one of the best camera manufacturer companies, and many photographers prefer using Sony’s cameras. Well, it’s obvious that the hardware and technology are used for cameras and smartphones’ cameras are entirely different. However, expecting from Sony a high-end camera smartphone this year is legitimate.

PlayStation Now for Android

Cloud gaming services are another rapidly growing platform, and many companies are already providing you with cloud gaming services, including Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, Nvidia GeForce Now, Steam Link and Cloud Play beta, Xbox’s cloud gaming beta along with Game Pass, and Sony’s PlayStation Now. Well, most of these services are still under development or need some improvements. However, a person can take the benefits of cloud gaming services only when they support a variety of devices and platforms. PlayStation Now is currently only compatible with PS4 and Windows. However, we would love to see and play PlayStation titles on Android as well, if the company makes it possible.

Work on Advertising Strategy

People who have knowledge about smartphones and technology are already familiar with and even like Sony’s latest smartphones, but the others are pretty much in the dark. Honestly, Sony’s handset advertising strategy is not so effective. Despite being one of the major tech brands, the popularity of Sony’s smartphones is behind Samsung, Apple, and even Google in some markets. Hence, sales of Sony’s smartphones are very less compared to most of its competitors; which is why the company needs to work on its advertising strategy. In my opinion, Sony even has to spend more money on its advertising strategy so that more people can know about the company’s latest handsets.

LC3+ Audio Support

Sony always provides us with great headphones, and most people enjoy listening to music through them. However, improvement is crucial. This year we can expect from Sony that it should provide us with LC3+ audio codecs. LC3 stands for Low Complexity Communication Codecs that help Bluetooth devices produce higher audio quality, consume less power, support true wireless earbuds, and even broadcast audios for sharing with an unlimited number of Bluetooth devices.

These are all the five things that I think the company can provide us with in the year 2021.
