Do Skill Development Programs are necessary to get a job in India?

Any nation aspiring to increase its economy must have uninterrupted, highly skilled employee support. A lower workforce skill leads to generate inequality and negatively impacts the growth graph of the nation. Without a skilled workforce, the private sector can't thrive in the long-term. Nearly one-third of the workforce lack the minimum skills needed to acquire skilled jobs in middle and low-income countries. Skill development is the core of the strategy to deal with unemployment, increase incomes, and enhance people's living standards. The lack of education & training eventually decreases the self-improvement chances of the workforce. Nowadays, skill development does not just look like a matter of choice, as it became necessary for every individual to survive and succeed in this competitive market. Skill development programs help get quality jobs and enable individuals to achieve success in their plans within a limited time.

Why is Skill Development Imperative in India?

Knowledge and skills are the backbones of the nation's growth, but India has only a 77% literacy rate, which is low compared to some least developed countries. However, literacy is the basic concept, skill development, vocational skills, transferable skills, technical expertise, and other knowledge required for livelihood and employment. Only 47% of our youth successfully passes the mark. By 2022, India's workforce may grow by 27%, and among which only one-fourth of them have gone through a skill development program. All this information states that India requires a skilled workforce and awareness of skill development programs.

Most Indian companies are experiencing a typical shift due to dynamic factors such as industry 4.0, event-changing market, and globalization. Skills enhance productivity, performance, work quality, and outcome. The WTO estimated that by 2035 India's GDP would increase by 3% to 5%, considering its focus on skill development training.
