OnePlus Pay may be launching in India soon, according to an insider who shared a screenshot of the company's trademark filing in the country on Twitter.

The mobile payments service was first announced in 2019 and then launched in China a year later. There has been no official word from OnePlus regarding the service's launch in India as of yet. If the trademark filing is correct, it is expected to launch in India later this year. OnePlus Pay will join a long list of mobile payment services in the country, including Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, and others.

An insider Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) tweeted the trademark filing for OnePlus Pay.

The trademark was filed by OnePlus and accepted by the Registrar of Trademarks, according to the tweet. To compete with Apple, Google, and Samsung payment services, the mobile payments service may include a mobile wallet as well as NFC-based payments. OnePlus' trademark was filed on March 30, and no further information has been released.

OnePlus Pay was launched in March 2020 and is currently only available in China. Before launching the payments service on HydrogenOS, the China-specific version of OxygenOS, the company tested it for more than a year. To use the service,

Now it seems like the company desires to expand its digital payment service in India as well. A new reports has claimed that OnePlus Pay might arrive with a mobile wallet and NFC-based payment method.

In China, the service was launched on Hydrogen OS as par a part of a wallet app with features like a double-tap on the power button to quick access it. While the digital payment service hub already consist of Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and others, it would be interesting to watch where does the OnePlus Pay digital payment service stand in future.

OnePlus users must first set the app as their default NFC-based payments app, after which the service will be activated and ready to use.
