What are NA and AA Coins?

At Choices Gifts, we understand that maintaining sobriety is a challenging task.

During an individual's rehabilitation from drug dependence or addiction, many milestones are widely recognized. Generally, the benchmarks observed are timestamps that indicate how long someone has been sober. After each milestone, a person receives an AA or NA coin. These are significant because they assist in honoring an individual's journey and intentional choice to live a safe, drug-free life.

Happy Sober Birthday!

Many individuals observe a sober birthday after completing drug abuse or alcohol therapy and maintaining their sobriety. Relatives and friends may gift them with AA coins to celebrate them.

There are different methods for calculating a person's sober anniversary. Many people mark their first complete day of opioid or alcohol abstinence to be their sober anniversary. Others deem their sober milestone to be the day they stopped using drugs or drink.

People are celebrating their sober anniversaries in a variety of ways. Like a typical birthday, how to mark most substantively is entirely up to the person.

Like every other celebration, a sober birthday is a joyous occasion and one's decision to live. It is possible for a person's sober birthday to vary. Substance abuse is a relapsing disorder, and whether a person relapses, their sober anniversary will be calculated from the period based on the sobriety after the relapse. As a result, one's sober celebration will vary and will be celebrated on a particular day in the future.

 Sobriety Coins

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) are two 12-step groups that use sobriety coins. They are offered to people to reflect the amount of time they have been clean. Though sobriety coins are not required in AA, and not every AA session can have them, it is a general practice that most do.

Some of the AA or NA coins available on Choices Gifts are:

  • Silver coins for individuals who have been clean for twenty-four hours.
  • Red coins for individuals that have completed 30 days (one month) of sobriety
  • Gold coins are given after 60 days of sobriety.
  • Emerald coins are given after 90 days of sobriety.
  • Those who have been sober for four months are awarded a purple coin.
  • A pink coin denotes five months of sobriety.
  • A dark blue coni will be given to someone who has been sober for six months.
  • For every seven months of sobriety, a copper coin is issued.
  • A red coin will be given to a person who has been sober for eight months.
  • A purple coin is issued after nine months of abstinence.
  • A gold coin will be awarded to those who stay sober for ten months.
  • The green eleventh-month coin will be awarded to those who have been sober for that long.
  • All of the chips usually are bronze after one year and will be issued yearly after that.

Choices Gifts' AA coins are available for friends that wish to give to others celebrating sobriety.
