Reason for discontinuation

This device is especially for individuals seeking very high performance. The lack of popularity defeats the iMac Pro because of the iMac (non-pro version). Also, the professionals tend to narrow down their focus for selecting between the iMac and the Mac pro as Mac pro delivers the best results regarding power and performance.

Comparing the iMac Pro and iMac features, we can observe that there is no significant difference between both the machines, while the iMac is quite a better option as it is available on a 27-inch screen. Almost all the specifications can be configured and upgraded to a higher tier to match the specs with iMac Pro except the former is equipped with a ten- core processor, and the latter is with an eight-core processor.

On the flip side, the iMac, after upgrading, will have much more interesting specs than iMac Pro. Also, there is no room for the iMac Pro to be configured to a higher tier than the iMac.

Now let’s take the Mac Pro in the picture and compare the Mac Pro and iMac against the most powerful machine, the iMac Pro.

Mac Pro specifications and Price

The Mac Pro is another high-tech and high-throughput device that comes as a different unit, and the display has to be purchased separately. The device is highly configurable.

The processor can be configured from a basic of 8-core to a whopping 28-core Intel Xeon W processor. The memory, by default, comes with 32GB but can be configured to 1.5 TB. The graphics configure two MPX (Mac Pro expansion) modules with up to 4 graphics processor units. There are multiple expansion slots for MXP cards and PCI (peripheral component interconnect) cards.

The Mac Pro basic model is equipped with 256 GB SSD memory but can be configured up to 1 TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB SSD memory. Regarding the input, it includes Two USB 3 ports,

Two Thunderbolt 3 ports, Two 10Gb Ethernet ports, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports on the top of the tower, or Two Thunderbolt 3 ports on the front of the rack.

In addition, Mac pro has a built-in speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack with headset support. The Magic Keyboard + numeric keypad, magic mouse 2, and magic trackpad 2 are compatible with Mac pro. It supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, similar to that of iMac Pro and iMac. The Mac pro requires 220–240V AC at 6A, and the operating temperature is set to be 10 to 35 degrees Celsius. The Price of the base model (without configuration) of Mac pro is $5,999.00, and the Price of the high-end model with all the possible configurations is $38948.

Conclusion

As said earlier, the iMac offers a wide variety of technical configurable to operate as it is best suited for the user. In Mac Pro’s case, there are even more changes one can plan according to the need and upgrade or downgrade the machine. The price difference between iMac Pro and iMac is not much compared to the Mac Pro, but when a person is willing to spend $5000 on a low-end model of iMac Pro, they can spend $1000 more and invest in the low-end model of a Mac Pro.

The reason being the Mac Pro has so many technical variations and options to offer; an individual can customize the machine which exactly suits their needs and performance preference.

Hence, the Mac Pro and the iMac are squeezing the iMac Pro regarding the cost, variety, and specifications. It is the reason Apple kicked out iMac Pro off its grid.
