What is vibration analysis? In general, vibration analysis allows a company’s managers and supervisors to look at data to determine how machines are operating. This serves as useful in a variety of industries relating to medicine, logistics, transportation, and utilities.
If they’re not going to work much longer, then repairs and replacements can be coordinated responsibly. This can be hefty work.
The trend relies on a part called the vibration sensor. For instance, the machine’s shortcomings can be noted thanks to the sensor. If it shakes too much, runs too fast, get too hot, the manager or supervisor will know. Then, an adequate response can be arranged.
Common problems caught by such technology: awkwardness, bearing disappointments, mechanical detachment, bowed shaft, gearbox disappointments, etc.
The experts have come up with a system that’s almost failsafe. It goes in a cycle. The machine runs. The data is reported to the supervisor via a digital readout. The supervisor takes notes on problems. If none, returns to normal. If one occurs, it is repaired.
Key Vocabulary
High recurrence: Many sensors have a recurrence of 10 to 15 kHz. Find the right sensor for the appropriate recurrence range.
Super low frequencies: These are hard to measure (but not impossible). Talk to an expert about a custom product if required.
Oil condition: You can’t measure oil with vibration sensors. That’s a different department entirely. It is important, though.
The nice thing about machine vibration monitoring is you don’t have to dismantle the system to get a reading. Instead, you only open up the machine when the monitoring equipment gives you enough reason to do so.
Remember, vibration can be estimated, recorded, transferred, maintained, and studied. This is why it’s important to use the capability to avoid risk and increase profit. When the machines operate as designed, there’s less room for failure. That’s a good thing!
